ATR 42 was developed by the French-Italian company " Aeromobili da Trasporto Regionale”, the first flight took place in the mid 80's. the aim of The project was to create a turboprop passenger aircraft for regional airlines. Low operating costs and a short take-off and landing distance became the basis for the commercial success of this aircraft. The ATR-500, introduced in the mid-90s, was an improved version with new engines and a six-blade propeller. Pozdneev was made military version designed for Maritime patrol, the ATR 42 MP “Surveyor” was used by Italian border guards.
