Zvezdafighter Lockheed F-104 is one of the most famous fighters in aviation history, as well as one with the longest operational life: the story began in the late 50s and ended for some air forces in the mid 2000s. Its unique airframe with thin fuselage and very small wing surface made this aircraft ideal as an interceptor. Thanks to the thrust of its General Electric J79-GE-11A turbojet diesel engine, it can exceed Mach 2.2 with excellent lifting speed. But it was not a very maneuverable and difficult pilot. F-104G Zvezdafighter was released under license from several European aviation companies. Since the mid-1960s, it has become a standard interceptor for many NATO countries, including Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece and Turkey. the Armament was basically the same as in previous versions, with a 20mm Volcano cannon and the ability to customize under air-to-air cruise missiles, bombs, or additional fuel tanks to increase the aircraft's range. Over time, intelligence duties were added to the traditional interceptor service. Thus, the F-104G was equipped with a special external device "Orpheus", which provided excellent operational results.
