the an-2 is a single-engine biplane / agricultural aircraft designed and manufactured by Antonov design Bureau in 1946. Its remarkable durability, high load capacity and ability to take off and land from bad runways ensured it had a long service life. The an-2 was produced until 2001 and remains in service with military and civilian operators around the world.< / p> < p>the An-2 was designed as a service aircraft for use in forestry and agriculture. However, the basic airframe adapts well, and numerous variants of this type have been developed; these include bunker-equipped versions for harvesting, scientific versions for atmospheric sampling, water bombers for fighting forest fires, flying ambulances, seaplane versions equipped with a float, and light armed combat versions for dropping amphibious troops. The most common variant is the 12-seat an-2T passenger aircraft. All versions (except the An-3) are powered by a 9-cylinder Shvetsov ASH-62 radial engine with 750 kW (1010 HP), which was developed on the basis of the Wright R-1820.
