Additional Information
In 1982, already at the Smolensk aircraft factory, the second flight model was made. May 26, 1982 test pilot E. N. Cheltsov first successfully raised the M-17 in the air from the airfield in Zhukovsky. In the spring of 1990, the aircraft set 25 world records in altitude, speed and rate of climb for aircraft weighing 16-20 tons, equipped with a single turbojet engine. By 1990, a third copy of the aircraft was built, which was the last M-17, armed with a double-barreled gun to fight balloons.
