Additional Information

Dassault Mirage 4000 – the prototype of the fourth generation fighter. It was developed by the French aircraft Corporation Dassault in 1970-80 years on the basis of a multifunctional strike aircraft Mirage 2000. Both aircraft have much in common. They have similar engines, similar wing shapes and flight control systems. The development was fully financed by the manufacturer, serial production was not started.
In 1976, the French air force ordered the development of Dassault Aviation fighter 4 generation Mirage 2000, comparable in capabilities with the F-15 American company McDonnell-Douglas. In parallel, on the basis of the basic model, the development of an aircraft called "Super Mirage 4000" was launched, the concept of which was to maximize the use of composite materials in order to reduce the weight of the aircraft. The prototype was built according to the aerodynamic scheme of the Duck. Perhaps for the first time in the world, an attempt was made to install ailerons made of carbon fiber, which allowed to increase the volume of fuel tanks on the fighter preparing for mass production. This and other improvements led to the fact that the Mirage 4000 could take on Board 4 times more fuel than the basic 2000-I model.
