Fw190F-4 was supposed to go into series in October 1943, But the production capacity of aircraft factories by this time were reoriented to the release of the F-8. There is evidence that the F-4 could be the first serial attack aircraft Fw 190, which is normally equipped with a bomb holder "Grosse Bomben-elektrik". For the F-4 was designed two additional sets of arms: R1 - attack aircraft with improved, or rather simplified electrical bomb release (consistent with Fw 190A-3/R1) and R3 - attack with a 30-mm cannon MK 103 in underwing gondolas (as the Fw 190F-3/R2).
