the Multipurpose Mosquito, which has earned the deep respect of British pilots, is on a par with the Spitfire fighter and Lancaster bomber. In 1939 the company De Havilland assumed production of the unarmored light high-speed bomber, by that time the company had experience of construction of Comet, the racing plane executed from a tree. With the exception of the engine and landing gear, the Mosquito was made entirely of wood, which provided a strategic advantage. The wooden structure saved such important materials as aluminum, and the aircraft could be produced in converted furniture factories. The Ministry of aviation was reluctant to accept wooden aircraft, but in March 1940 ordered 50 aircraft to be used as reconnaissance aircraft. In November 1940, on test flights, the Mosquito developed a speed of 630 km/h, a demonstration of the potential led to the order of an additional 150 aircraft. Mosquito PR Mk. I (reconnaissance modification) was put into service in July 1941, B Mk. IV, the bomber began to ship in the spring of 1942. On may 31, 1942, mosquito conducted a day RAID on Cairn. In September 1942, the Gestapo was bombed in Oslo during a RAID, and on 30 January 1943, German officials were attacked during a speech in Berlin. These events demonstrated the mosquito's ability to carry heavy weapons and deliver precise surprise strikes at low altitude. PR Mk. IV equipped with cameras found Tirpitz in the Arctic circle and tracked down the location of V2 missiles. In the course of operations the Mosquito was carrying the minimum, showing off his jutting features.
