single-Seat fighter, all-metal monoplane with closed cabin and retractable wheel chassis. Designed to KB firms in Kawanishi. It was a modification of the float fighter N1K1. The first flight of the N1K1-J with a wheeled chassis took place on December 27, 1942. Serial production of the N1K1-J was carried out from August 1943. Total built 1415 aircraft. The N1K family has been in service with the Japanese Navy since late 1943.
