Mi-17 entered service in 1975, is a deep modernization of the Mi-8. First demonstrated in 1981 at the Paris air show, exported to Cuba since 1983. Many helicopters are not new, and made by improving existing Mi-8. The helicopter is able to move up to 30 soldiers and up to 20 wounded. The seats inside the cargo compartment are removed to move the goods. The helicopter can be equipped with weapons such as missiles, guns and small arms.
