triera is the main type of warship of the Mediterranean during the Greco-Persian wars (V-IV centuries BC). The main weapon of the triera was a copper-bound RAM - a continuation of the keel beam. The speed of the Trier on the oars reached 18 km/h. Sailing weapons consisted of a large straight sail and a small, mounted on an inclined mast in the bow of the ship. The masts were removable. During the battle, the Trier accelerated and broke the enemy oars, depriving him of the course. Then she beat him with a battering RAM. The crew of the triera consisted of more than two hundred people. It included rowers, deck sailors and heavily armed hoplites.
