Aircraft DH.2 was the English response to German fighters "Fokker E" and D. DH.2 was ready in may 1915, it flew around de Haviland himself on June 1, 1915. After completing the test, July 26 sent to France for testing in combat. But in the first sortie, held on August 9, 1915, the pilot captain Ronald Maxwell-pike was shot down and died of wounds. The plane, though in a broken state, fell into the hands of the enemy. Despite such a tragic beginning, the company "AIRCO" received an order for 100 aircraft.
