Additional Information

the First modification of the fighter F-4 Phantom, produced a large series was the version of the F-4B. In this machine were combined improvements made on various machines F-4A. Also on the F-4B engines were installed J79-GE-8A and 8B, originally planned for Phantom. Airborne radar AN/APQ-50 was replaced by a more advanced AN/APQ-72. Prior to the change of designation system in September 1962, F-4B had the designation F4H-1.
Despite the initial, purely "fighter" specialization, the F-4B was equipped with the AJB-3 system, which provided the use of nuclear bombs. The flight of the aircraft was controlled by an analog ACS and an analog autopilot AN/ASA-32 company General Electric. Also, the aircraft was equipped with nine suspension nodes, which provided the ability to use up to 8,454 kg of bombs or fifteen blocks of nurs FFAR. The antenna of the an/APR-30 radiation warning system was installed in the fairing on the keel. And the first 18 F-4B received these systems later.
