Japanese fighter-bomber F-1 developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) on the basis of training aircraft Mitsubishi T-2 for the Air self-defense forces of Japan. It is the first combat aircraft developed in Japan after world war II.Development of the aircraft began in 1972 year. In 1973, the Assembly line was removed from two training T-2 for the conversion program to create a fighter. They first received the name T-2(FS), then were renamed to FS-T2 Kai, where "Kai" is an abbreviation for "improved". The prototype made its first flight on June 3, 1975. Tests and fine-tuning of the aircraft took almost two years, and only in June 1977 built the first serial fighter, which received the designation F-1.
Structurally, the F-1 is a high-plane with a trapezoidal wing (sweep along the leading edge of 42°) with a small influx along the leading edge. The wing is installed with a negative angle of transverse V, equal to 9°. The front edge has a geometric ledge. Takeoff and landing mechanization consists of flaps located throughout the span, and slats. On the upper surface of the wing mounted two-section interceptors, serving to control the roll.
