Grumman F9F Panther became the first jet aircraft for the manufacturer, and the second for the US Navy. The first flight was made in 1947. As the engine was used turbojet Rolls-Royce Nene manufactured under license from Pratt & Whitney as the J42. Since the wing and fuselage could not fit enough fuel for the "voracious" jet engine, the fuel tanks are installed on the wing tips. The F9F-2P presented in the kit is an unarmed modification for intelligence used in the Korean war.
