F-14 tomcat is a supersonic fighter with two engines, a double cabin and a variable sweep wing. First took to the air on 21 December 1970. The aircraft was used by the US Navy as a fighter, defense interceptor and tactical scout from 1974 to 2006. Later, after the installation of additional avionics, the aircraft was used for point missile strikes. The F-14 was developed after the collapse of the F-111B project and was developed based on the experience of air battles against MiGs during the Vietnam war. In 1974 became the first to be based on the aircraft carrier "enterprise", which replaced the F-4 Phantom II. F-14D Super Tomcat is the most advanced modification of the F-14, this version was first introduced in 1991. The TF-30 engine was replaced by the GE F110-400. The a-14D received modern electronic avionics, including the new an/APG-71 radar and other systems. Despite the fact that the modification of "D" is the most perfect at the moment, not all units have moved to it. Congress decided not to curtail the program by ordering 55 aircraft as a compromise. A total of 37 new aircraft were manufactured, and 18 F-14A were modified to version "D".
