the Initial version of the JH-7 could not meet all the requirements of the Chinese air force, an improved version was presented in the mid-1990s, full-scale design work began in 1999. The JH-7A was adopted by both the air force and the Navy as both services sought replacement for the obsolete H-5 and Q-5. JH-7A has been provided by China Navy in early 2004, at the end of the same year the aircraft was provided by air force.
