the Hovercraft (in American lcac terminology-pronounced ell-kak) is used for the transportation of troops and cargo. LCAC is able to transport up to 75 tons of cargo at a speed of 40 knots. These landing boats were first demonstrated in 1980, and continue to be used to this day. Combat effectiveness has been proven in Somalia, Iraq, Kuwait and a number of other countries. LCAC is indispensable for dealing with the consequences of natural disasters and rescue operations.
