the South African Reconnaissance vehicle, better known as the Marmon-Herrington Armored vehicle, was a series of armored vehicles produced in South Africa and used by the British army during world war II. Developed in 1938. The first version, the "South African reconnaissance vehicle" Mk I was a long wheelbase four wheel chassis driven only on the rear axle. Mk II had all-wheel drive. It was known in British service as the Armoured car, the Marmon -Herrington Mk II. Mark III had a more compact body, the wheelbase was shorter and had different towers. A total of 5,746 Marmon–Herrington units were built.
