Additional Information
the Hungarian light tank Toldi was built on the basis of the Swedish Landsverk L-60. Its production started in 1939, the first version was commissioned in 1940 there were four main variants of the tank Toldi:
- Toldi I - armed with 20mm cannon
- Toldi II – armored, with thicker frontal plate
- Toldi IIa - armed with 40mm cannon
- Toldi III - thicker armor
Toldi tanks entered battle in 1941 in Yugoslavia. Hungarian commanders quickly noticed that Toldi was under-armoured and under-armed, and decided that some upgrades were needed. The Toldi II was introduced in 1942 and still had an inefficient 20mm cannon. Armament was soon replaced by a much better 40mm anti-tank gun - Toldi IIa . 80 of 110 Toldi IIs received the update. Toldi III got even thicker armor, improved, but this production started too late.
