BMD-2 - Soviet airborne infantry fighting vehicle, commissioned in 1985. It is a variant of the BMD-1 with a new tower and some changes in the body. It was designed as a replacement for the BMD-1, but it could not completely replace it due to the fall of the Soviet economy in the 1980s. NATO gave it the designation BMD M1981.
