M109A6 Paladin is another modification of the M109 self-propelled howitzer that was introduced in the early 1960s. She joined the U.S. army in 1991. Production ceased in 1999. A total of 950 artillery systems were built for the us army. The M109A6 Paladin has a larger tower than its predecessor. It is equipped with a m284 155 mm / L39 howitzer equipped with a semi-automatic loading system. The maximum range is 24 km with standard projectiles and 30 km with missiles. The maximum rate of fire - 4 shots per minute. Secondary armament consists of a 12.7 mm machine gun on the roof. On some vehicles instead of a machine gun was installed automatic grenade launchers 40 mm M109A6 equipped with an automatic fire control system with integrated navigation and inertial positioning system. The M109A6 Paladin provides armor protection against firing of small arms and artillery shells.
