the Success of the Soviet Katyusha and the creation of the German analogue Nebelwerfer led the US to the idea of mounting a T34 rocket launcher on a modified M4 Sherman. The rocket launcher could fire in one gulp or one at a time. Vertical aiming was carried out by lifting the main gun.
