M109 (eng. 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer M109) — American self-propelled artillery, class self-propelled howitzers.Created in 1953-1960 to replace the low-yield M44, in parallel with the 105-mm ACS M108. Was in mass production in the United States, repeatedly modernized, from 1962 to 2003, also produced under license in the 1990s in South Korea. Quickly became the standard destroyers of the US troops, displacing the older samples, and M108. For the first time M109 was used in combat in the Vietnam war and was subsequently used in almost all military conflicts in which the United States participated.
