Additional Information
the Tank was developed by the company "MAN" and January 1, 1943 was put into production. The creation of this tank marked a leap in the German tank building. Compared with the T-IV tank, the Panther T-V tank had a more rational hull shape, to a certain extent borrowed from the Soviet t-34 tank. The tank was armed with a new 75-mm tank gun with a barrel length of 70 calibers, an armor - piercing projectile which at a distance of 1000 meters punched armor thickness of 130 mm, and a sub-caliber projectile at the same distance-up to 160 mm.The design was also implemented a lot of technical innovations: hydraulic brake control, multiradius planetary rotation mechanism with a synchronizer, a device for blowing the barrel with compressed air after the shot, the use of a hydraulic drive to rotate the tower, etc., but the abundance of innovations had its own drawback: tank was complex in production and exploitation, his technical reliability was relatively low. However, it was the best German tank, very dangerous to enemy tanks. The tank was produced until the end of world war II and entered the tank divisions to replace the T-IV. In total, about 6,000 tanks of this type were produced.
