44M "Tosh" was developed for the Hungarian army as the main battle tank with 75 mm gun. Despite the strong influence of the German tank PzKpfw V "Panther", the Hungarian prototype had a number of characteristic features, such as an independently developed chassis, tower and reinforced up to 120 mm frontal armor (however, thanks to the lighter running, the weight of the tank did not exceed the weight of the "Panther"). Developed in 1943, the tank was designed to replace the 40.M Turan and 43.M "Zrigni", the beginning of production was planned for 1945, but in 1944, during the bombing of the Allies, the only prototype was lost and the project had to be closed.
