Schneider CA1 was the first French tank. It was widely used in military operations of the last years of the First world war. Their debut 16 April 1917 can be called unfortunate, tanks carried the heavy losses, but subsequent-fighting were more successful. In 1918, Schneider tanks played an important role in containing the German Spring offensive and in winning the German front in France during the summer offensive. They were active until September 1918, less than two months before the Compiegne armistice (November 11, 1918), and the number of tanks declined significantly due to wear and tear. After the war, the remaining tanks were mainly converted into civilian equipment, except for the six tanks that were deployed by Spain in Morocco. The last time these tanks were used for their intended purpose during the Spanish civil war.
