Schneider CA 1 was the first French tank. The machine was widely used in the last years of the war. The first application was dated April 16, 1917, and was actually a failure, but the further application was more successful. Tanks played an important role in deterring the Spring Offensive of 1918, and in breaking the German front line in the summer offensive of the French army. The tanks were active until the end of 1918, because of the deterioration quantity of the suitable machines were very few. After the war, the remaining tanks were used for civilian purposes, but six tanks were used by Spain in Morocco, the last combat use was the Spanish civil war.
