Additional Information
Saint-Chamond was the second French heavy tank of the First world war. From April 1917 to July 1918, 400 tanks were produced. One of the main disadvantages of the machine were too short tracks and overweight (23 tons). In later modifications, attempts were made to correct the embedded flaws, wider and more reliable tracks were installed, the frontal armor was increased, the gun was replaced with a more effective 75mm Mle 1897. Tanks of Saint-Chamond has been involved in many military actions until late in the summer of 1918. Belatedly, the tank is more effective after the battle has moved from the trenches into open space. However, in the future, the tank was completely replaced by British counterparts.
