In 1943, the Wehrmacht experienced an acute shortage of PT-ACS Stug III (Anglo-American air raids caused significant damage to the manufacturer of the company Alkett). In December 1943 the decision was made with the production of light tank destroyers on the capacity of the Prague company BMM. Elements of the Pz tank were widely used in the design.Kpfw. 38(t). The first prototypes were made in March 1944. Until may 1945, more than 2,800 vehicles were produced.
