the L 1500S Family was the lightest among the Mercedes-Benz trucks of the prewar and war years. It was a typical low-tonnage car with a capacity of 1.5 tons. Since 1937, the car was produced in the rear-wheel drive version, and in 1941 there was a four-wheel drive modification. A characteristic feature of a light truck – the engine, taken directly from the car. L 1500S it was diesel, 6-cylinder in-line OHV, unified with the motor cars Mercedes-Benz 260. All the heavier series of Mercedes-Benz trucks were equipped with diesel engines. With six cylinders in a number of branded Daimler-Benz designers assembled this engine is extremely compact, so the length of the "six" turned out no more than other four-cylinder engines. It is thanks to the passenger motor, L 1500S developed the highest top speed among the Mercedes-Benz trucks of those years - 85 km/h.
