In 1938, Germany decided to develop an armored infantry vehicle for the army based on a three-ton half-track chassis HL-KL-9p. The prototype was completed in 1938, after testing the machine was approved for mass production. Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 can be called synonymous with the German mechanized corps of the Second world war.
