Additional Information
having Realized the excellent off-road permeability of half-track vehicles, the German army decided in 1932 to develop six military half-track transporters from 1 to 18 tons. Production orders were sent to several manufacturers.
Krauss-Maffeir in Munich took up the design of the eight-ton version. Since the company has been manufacturing semi-track machines since 1928, the KMm7 prototype was ready by 1933, soon followed by the kmm8 and KMm9 prototypes, and in 1936 the KMm10 went into production under the designation "medium eight-ton tractor (Sd.Kfz-7)". The latest model, the KMm11, was completed in 1938 and immediately sent into production.
To the end of the war there were about 1200 cars, one of the modifications was armed with four 20-mm AA-guns (Sd.kfz 7/1).
