In 1943, the German high command requested the development of a new tank destroyer to replace intermediate vehicles such as the Marder. Hetzer was built on the chassis Panzerkampfwagen 38(t), in its compact body housed a powerful 75mm gun Pak 39 L/48 and a crew of four. By may 1945 was built 2 584 of the machine, during the production of the Hetzer was constantly modified, which led to differences between early, middle and late samples of the machines.
