Additional Information
With the course of world war II, military equipment became larger and larger. When these heavy vehicles broke down or were damaged by the enemy, bringing them back from the front line was no easy task. This problem was particularly acute Germans who fought on a variety of types of surface, from the Sands of Africa to the Russian off-road. Evacuation of damaged vehicles in these harsh conditions was necessary to maintain the power of the army. German 18-ton truck half-track "FAMO" & Sd.Ah.116 was one of the machines designed for these tasks. Including all modifications, more than 2500 18-ton tractors were produced until the end of the war. One of the main types was a major repair and recovery vehicle, which was located at the seat, place for spare parts, a place for damaged equipment and winch. The engine used was a 12-cylinder a Maybach HL 108 with a capacity of 270 HP. Damaged equipment could be towed or loaded onto a large trailer, allowing the transportation of 22-23 ton tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw.III, Pz.Kpfw.IV and heavy artillery.
