the M8 was originally designed as a fast tank destroyer. In the open light armored car turret mounted 37mm gun & machine gun. The evolution of armored forces soon made the 37mm gun insufficient to hit new tanks, but the vehicle's speed continued to be appreciated in reconnaissance operations. M8 was used during the Korean war and in French Indochina, upgraded versions of these machines can still be found in the service in some countries of the world.
