Additional Information
In June 1941, Germany realized that the firepower of their tanks is not enough to defeat such armored vehicles of the Soviet army as the T-34 and KV-1. As a temporary solution to this problem, it was decided to arm the chassis of the outdated Czech 38(t) captured by the Soviet 7.62 cm pak36(r) gun. In February 1942 the first 18 Marder were used in North Africa, by November of the same year 344 machines were built.
