Additional Information
SU-85 was an anti-tank installation on the chassis of the famous T-34. The SU-85 was designed to combat Germany's heavy tanks such as the Tiger. Basically, this self-propelled gun evolved from the su-122 assault gun, an anti-tank gun 85mm D-5T with a high speed of the projectile was mounted in the new installation. The first combat use took place in August 1943, an improved version of the SU-85M was presented later. SU-85M is based on a larger body SU-100, which increased the ammunition of the gun from 48 to 60 shots. Another distinctive feature was the commander's turret used on the T-34/85.
