Helicopter Yak-24 was designed in a very short time: from the beginning of the preliminary design (October 1951) to the first flight (July 1952) it took only nine months. The design of a comparable load-carrying helicopter Pyasetsky H-16 began in 1946, and for the first time it rose into the air only in 1953. It was piasetsky helicopters that served as the catalyst for the emergence of a large transport helicopter longitudinal scheme in the Soviet Union.
