AV-8B Harrier II is a family of third-generation jet aircraft created in the late 20th century to defeat ground targets. It has a system of vertical/short take-off and landing. Performs a wide range of tasks, mainly serves for light attacks. It can be based on both small ships and aircraft carriers. The AV-8B is used by the US marine corps, the British version of the Harrier GR7/GR is used by the RAF, and the Royal Navy. The first AV-8B Harrier II "Day Attack" (for day operations) is not currently used. Most aircraft were upgraded to the Night Attack Harrier version, or the Harrier II Plus version, and the remainder were decommissioned.
