Additional Information
the Bf109G series, or "Gustav", was introduced in mid-1942; its original variants (from G-1 to G-4) differed only in minor details from the Bf 109F, most notably in that it was fitted with a more powerful 1475 PS DB 605 engine. The odd-numbered variants were built with a pressurized cockpit and supercharged GM-1 as high-altitude fighters, while the even-numbered variants were non-pressurized fighters and fighter-bombers. Long-range photo-reconnaissance options also existed. The later G series (from G-5 to G-14) was produced in a variety of variants. By early 1944, tactical requirements led to an increase in MW-50 water injection power and high-performance superchargers, increasing engine power to 1800-2000 HP.< / p>
