BF 109 F2 joined the Luftwaffe in 1941. Its armament consisted of a 15mm mg 151 rapid-fire gun with a rate of fire of 950 rounds per minute. The novelty was the use of an electric drive to recharge it. The tropical version of the F-2 with additional air filters was produced for service on the fronts, where the dust was a big problem: the North African theater and the southern section of the Eastern front. In the middle of the Second World War 7 most famous aces flew BF 109F.
