A ground-to-air missile system developed by the British Aviation Corporation in conjunction with other contractors for the Royal Air Force. It is in service with the armies of Australia, Great Britain, Indonesia, Singapore, Turkey, Malaysia and Switzerland. The development of the rocket (project ET.316) began in the 60s, as an alternative to the American Mauler missile system. As a task, it was announced the creation of a highly maneuverable supersonic missile system for hitting high-speed low-flying targets. Since it was decided not to purchase Mauler missiles, the ET.316 project was developed to the end and went into production. The missile system was adopted in 1971
