The heavy tank KV-85 was a further development of the KV-1C and differed from it by installing a more powerful 85-mm gun D-5T-85 in a new cast tower of increased volume. It was developed in the spring of 1943 and adopted in early August. KV-85 was produced serially until September 1943 and actively participated in the fighting on all fronts of the great Patriotic war. A total of 148 such tanks were produced.
