Heavy tank KV-2 with the so-called "big tower" was created in 1940 and in the same year put into production. It was designed to break through heavily fortified defensive strips by destroying bunkers and bunkers direct fire. For these purposes, in the tower of the tank was installed 152.4 mm howitzer M-10 ar. 1938 KV-2 participated in defensive battles of the initial period of the great Patriotic war. In total, 46 machines with the "big tower"were manufactured.
