Additional Information
Just one month after the demonstration of the tiger I prototype, in April 1942, it was ordered to begin work on improving the tank. Thus was born the Tiger 2, or as it is often called the "Royal Tiger". The machine weighed 69.8 tons and began production in mid-1944. The tank was armed with 88mm gun KwK 43 L/71 and was driven by the same engine that was installed on the Panther, weighing 20 tons lighter.
