After the lightning seizure of Western Europe in 1940, the only resistance to Germany remained the United Kingdom. Germany planned to land on the British Isles under the code name "Sea lion". For this task, Panzer III was converted for use under water. Tanks of this modification were known as Tauchpanzer III, the machines had breathing equipment and could move along the seabed. It was planned that the tanks will descend from the ships not far from the coast of the enemy. This plan was not implemented, it was decided to bring Britain to its knees by Luftwaffe.
