Additional Information
During world war II, the US used semi-track transporters in a variety of roles. At some point (before the widespread M7 Priest in 1942), the army needed mobile artillery to keep up with the pace of armored forces. So was created T19 Howitzer Motor Carriage (HMC) (motorized howitzer). T19 half-track was a conveyor with M3 105mm howitzer M2A1. From January to April 1942 324 cars were built. It was not the best design, the machine was overloaded so that could place ammunition only from eight shells.Despite this and other shortcomings, such as the lack of armor, the T19 was used by the us army in North Africa, Sicily and even, in part, in Italy. With the advent of the M7 Priest, many of the T19 were converted back to the standard M3 halftrack.
