In early 1941, the Wehrmacht adopted a new model - StuG III Ausf C, which differed from the previous new design of the front of the cabin. In this model, the telescopic gun sight, which required a special embrasure to bring the lens out, weakening the frontal sheet of the cabin, was abolished in favor of the periscope, the lens of which was output through the roof. This improved the strength of the frontal armor and simplified the production of the hull.
