Additional Information

These experimental heavy anti-tank self-propelled guns were designed to combat heavy tanks. They planned to use them against British tanks after landing in England. In early 1942, they were issued by the firms Henschel and Rheinmetall on the chassis of an experienced medium tank VK 3001(H). But after the Germans met the Soviet tanks KV and T-34 - these are the most powerful at that time anti-tank self-propelled guns have been used only on the Eastern front and only against the Soviet heavy and medium tanks. One of the guns was captured in 1943 during the fighting in the area of Alekseyevka (don front) and his tests are significantly influenced the decision on the establishment of Soviet heavy anti-tank 122-mm self-propelled guns. This captured German 128-mm self-propelled gun can still be seen in the Museum in Kubinka.
