Panzerkampfwagen IV, commonly known as the Panzer IV, was a medium tank developed by Germany in the late 1930s and actively used in world war II.
the Panzer IV was originally designed as an infantry support tank and was not designed to combat enemy armored vehicles, this goal was given to the lighter Panzer III. However, when the shortcomings of the prewar doctrine of warfare began to be recognized more clearly, the Panzer IV was given the role of fighting enemy tanks. The Panzer IV was Germany's most massive tank of world war II, and it was used as a base for many other combat vehicles including the Sturmgeschütz IV, the Wirbelwind self-propelled air defense and the Brummbär self-propelled gun.
Panzerbefehlswagen IV – another version of the Panzer IV is a commander's tank. The conversion included the installation of radio equipment, antennas, wiring, generators and other equipment, which had to reduce the ammunition of the machine. The tank could coordinate actions with closely located armored machinery, infantry and even aircraft.
